How much to spend on batting pads?

I'm looking at a pair of new batting pads, the ones I currently have I just do not like.

I quite like the look of the Puma ones but they seem expensive, as is the majority of their stuff.

As a start, I'd go to a store with the amount you're happy to spend and no cards etc. Try on the pads they have in that price bracket and go with the ones you think fit best, are lightest, have best protection.

Spend what you're willing to spend mate, if you go to a half decent shop they should help you find something that meets all your needs.

You can normally get some decent 2nd hand puma stuff on eBay for a fair price.

Haha BoogyWoogy, I'm in Glasgow, only cricket store I know of here is Greaves, and they are vastly overpriced.

Yeah I made a mistake as one guy who I bought his bat from had Puma pads which were only worn once in nets for sale aswell, but it would have came to £18 for packaging, so I asked him about bringing the price down since I would have bought both on the same day, didn't get a reply which I would have liked, also I was working at the time and forgot about it haha.

£30 is basically the budget, but pads seem expensive these days compared to before. What size are they? I'm not exactly the tallest, 5 foot 6 probably.

I have GM 808 in youth size, approx £30 and I really like them. I'm 5ft7

I got mine last year like everyone else in the sportsdirect sale, i'm sure if you look on there you may find something decent.

I got mine for $80 in the half price basket, and the RRP was $160. They were brand new, but two years old. I got the Puma Calibre 5000 (2010-11 version I think) RH, and the staff were surprised there was a RH pair in there. So far, they have served me well, haven't felt a thing wearing these. Negative is the straps, as tey aren't padded and are too long, especially at the bottom. Other than that they aren't too heavy (952g), and they are very comfortable (with pants on only). Overall, they are a good buy for $80 (roughly £44)

Blank Bats sorted me a great pair, feather light, for (I think) 40 british pounds.

I'd buy the level of protection you need. No point having a pair made of kevlar and carbon fiber if you're facing Uncle Jack's medium pace grenades.

Spend the rest on red wine.
