Couple of weeks ago my match bat developed a nasty toe crack on the inside which grew a fair way up the blade and led to a horrible dead feeling bat. Gave my spare a go in a couple of games and decided I didn't get on with it, so thought I'd have a go at dowelling the toe myself. Here's a photo, didn't put much time and effort into neatening it up before I took this so it doesn't look the best, but reckon it's a decent job:
Long story short: first go with it after the repair today - hit 90 in 14 overs (~50 balls) opening the batting in a t20 cup match. 5 sixes and 7 fours say the repair has worked! Made up with that as a result as I love the bat and don't have the money for a similar quality replacement, fingers crossed it'll live on for a while yet. One vote for diy repair here.
EDIT: anyone have any experience of how long this type of fix tends to hold up?
