New Balance or not New Balance
« on: May 23, 2014, 02:21:56 AM »

As i'm away working at the moment and unable to watch any cricket, shocking i know
I have seen the pictures of the England odi and also Gary Ballance sponsored by New Balance as last season i think he was Slaz,
are these actual New Balance bats or made by a batmaker on here as its the same with Finch and Miller as both their bats don'y say Achieve or Aspire

I would be doubting whether they are really new balance bats. I am un aware who makes new balance but really most of the pros would have their own makers and use stickers.
More a long time in aus it was Julian Millichamp making bats as the same with Bradbury. only have to look in the IPL to see that the Indians just sticker over the old stickers with their sponsor

new balance is a shoe company, who outsource the making of their cricket equipment.

no shame in that, loads do it.

with that in mind, it wouldn't take a rocket scientist to suggest their sponsored batsmen will use their favourite bat maker for bats.

we do know that some brands are very prescriptive about players using their kit, GN and GM are the main ones for that.

I saw 3 of Aaron Finch's bats that were prepared for him before the T20 world cup. They were customs from various suppliers around the world. The stickers were really nice - a deep metallic candy red - much better in the flesh. I would say most of their contracted players would be getting custom bats made to their spec.

As Finch is from downunder are we saying either Julian or maybe Laver do his bats.

No they weren't made down under. 2 from the UK (different suppliers) and 1 from India. One of the NB head honchos is an expat Aussie based in HK and he got them made for Finch.

He only had Finch's bats with him that night, so I only asked him about those. They were all massive full profile bats that picked up about 2.9-2.10.
