Eng v SL Kit Spots (plus a word for Stretton Fox)
« on: May 25, 2014, 10:56:52 PM »

I spent the first ODI at the Oval with Tom from Ayrtek and George from Stretton Fox, we discovered George fighting his way through the floods after dropping off some supplies to some of the players before the game. He seemed happy to join us and escape the rain. We had a great day when the sun made it's fleeting appearances, witnessing a good performance from England and Jordan in particular. Of course when we weren't huddling from the rain in the beer tent we spent a lot of time spotting/discussing kit.

George took great delight in pointing out all of his guards, which were blank, with no branding. He has mentioned before on the forum about not being allowed to brand his guards as the players sponsors don't allow it. I haven't had chance to put this to him yet, but why?

We did spot a few Fox's but the epsn photos don't have all of them. Here's Dilshan sporting what might be one ;)

Anyway back to my main point. Here's Kusal Perera clearly sponsored by CA. But as you can see he is wearing some SS pads, admittedly the main logo has been removed from the pads but he's wearing completely branded aero P1's, so why can't George's works of art be shown in their full glory? As a side note he is also carrying what might or might not be a Stretton Fox chest guard in his new Masuri Visions Series lid ;)

Here are some other kits spots from the start of the English 'Summer'

Ian Bell with a Vision Series Masuri and also what looks suspiciously like a concaved Impulse... ;)

Root has jumped from lid to lid since the grille on his GM failed so dramatically. His latest helmet is an unbranded Masuri Vision series. Note Sangakarra is wearing what are clearly Kookaburra wicket keeping pads.

Butler was one of the earliest adopters of the Masuri Vision series. In contrast to Bell, he is wielding what looks very much like a non concaved bat, the retail Ricochet being a super concaved profile.

PR (an unusual sponsorship move as they have no UK presence as far as I know) couldn't get some coloured pads to Jordan it seems.

Lovely thread, I do look at ESPN just for equipment.

Dilshan bat seem to have fair bit of concaving as well.

Sangakarra seem to be wearing Chandimal's pads.

Wouldn't it be okay and allowed if George have minimal branding on his product? Very little..

PR couldn't get Jordan a bat either looking at the brand on the edges!

Root and Sanga are clear front runners in the most helmets used challenge.

In a match the thigh pads are worn under trousers so there shouldn't be a problem with logos - hence branded Aeros.  Don't see why shouldn't be the same for Strettons, and likewise for chest guards.  However arm guards are on show in a match.

Your not allowed a logo on armguards apparently my mate who plays for Lahore got half his match fee taken from him for forgetting to put tape over the remfry sign.

I'm guessing Gary Ballance to New Balance is considered old news?

Did you notice Dawid Malan using a Slazenger V5 for Middlesex? This is supposedly a '3 star' bat!

I noticed during the coverage yesterday that Ian Bell's gloves are a little different to the general release ones.He has a lot less orange on the fingers. Or maybe they are just taped over with white tape/coloured in white?

Probably an international requirement. Reduced advertising etc.

I bowled against a guy with florescent wrist bands on his gloves last Saturday and was almost killed by a C&B because my eyes were drawn to the florescents and not the ball.
