Best international batsmen of the last couple of years
« on: July 04, 2008, 08:42:45 PM »

Who do people think has been the best international batsmen of the last couple of  years? Post odi and test.

My Test batsmen would be chanderpaul because he has really held the west indies side together and is  little bugger to get out. His concentration is immense and hasn't been caught up in the rapid increase of odi's and 2020's. He still scores his runs at his pace and you know if you get him out, you have actually got him out, he hasn't got himself out generally with a loose shot.

ODI's is a bit harder for me as i don't really follow it but McCullum for me has really come of age and is a force to be reckoned with.

Until he recently retired- Sourav Ganguly has had a fairytale comeback and backed that up with tons of runs including more than 5 hundreds and a double, averaging very high.

For me, Yuvraj has to be ODI choice, when he is in form, even the best cannot keep up with him, doesn't matter whether its Freddie or Ashraful bowling at him.

Viru Sehwag or Michael Hussey get my vote in the Tests.

More recently though, serious talent has emerged- Shakib, JP Duminy, Gautam Gambhir, Marsh, Clarke just to name a few- these will surely be the names being branded about in this sort of topic in a few years time.

Duminy has been fantastic in the aussie games and gambhir has impressed me so much, so gifted and so calm

not really, averaging 45 odd last two years combined. sangakkara averages 70 + in the same period and chanderpaul 100+.
