I have definitely seen that ... (hardbar) on my L&W classic profile bat, and right in the area too, between middle & toe end of the bat.

Amit, I have had this on my RPC. You can knock it as much as you want but it will always be higher then the rest of the face. I have not noticed any gain or loss in performance due to it though, nothing to worry about as long as it is not falling apart in the knocking in phase...

Do we get go know the brand? :D

For now I can say its one of the forum sponsors

If it was from the Xtrax family then it would have been sold as bats with XBar :)

The bat does have a nice ping. Just wanted to make sure that hardbar will not cause any bat breakage.

Received a new bat from UK batmaker and i noticed this bump/bulge right in the middle of the blade face. Here are couple of pics :

There is a small knot on the edge and that is where the bulge on the face starts at. Its easily visible and can be felt by touching the bat face.
Should this be a cause for any concern ?

No need to worry at all, i've seen it many times when knocking bats in, that area will not compress when knocking in (it is raised because the press cannot level it off so we will have little chance with a mallet) but its very hard/strong so won't cause any issues.

Thats what I was always told, harder, stronger but not a performance aid. Was shown to look down the face of a bat and reject anything with lumps or bumps in, obviously we're talking top end as they are found more in lower end bats.

If it's what I think it is (I can't see pics behind work firewall) mine wasn't a good story - The area of the pin was hard as nails though the rest of the wood was softer and after a couple of innings the ridge became more and more apparent (as the area above and below became naturally dented) to the point at which the bits immediately above and below started having chunks and dents taken out of them. Wasn't a pretty sight/experience an the batmaker offered a full refund.

Ive got one of those on the middle of one of my bats. Makes the bat sound deeper in tone when hit. Initially o thought it was a dud. I've also given the bat loads of knocking to try to loosen it. Thanks for the info, might help me to sell it.
