Who makes MRF bats ?
« on: May 30, 2014, 03:22:51 PM »

So I had posted on facebook about the Sirius X profile bat that I am getting from John at Red Ink. A friend of mine posted there saying that he uses an MRF Gambhir replica bat (bought for $200), which he got through the dad of his friend who works at the factory. This is the link that he posted on facebook saying that his bat looks exactly like this.

I was under the impression that these players get endorsed by MRF and just uses these MRF stickers on their regular bats. Do they actually have a factory that makes bats ?

Didn't MRF have to make some bats to qualify as a manufacturer in order to avoid just promoting a random non cricket related company (which the ICC made illegal)?

I don't know if MRF manufactures their own bats but I got a couple of bats hand picked from someone I know at the MRF factory in Chennai, those were the Exclusive LE bats that Sachin used to use (or atleast the stickers) and they turned out to be absolute guns. So yes, if you know someone you can get bats from the MRF factory.

I think the ruling states you have to make products available to be purchased by the public, but you aren't required to manufacture them yourself.

That makes sense. Why would MRF go to the trouble of manufacturing bats on their own when they are a billion dollar company already ?

So basically what we are talking about here is that the MRF bats are bats obtained by MRF employees straight from the actual bat manufacturer/supplier ?

Looks like a new consumer law is being established in India where each brand has to state who is the manufacturer .
So kookaburra products sold in India will state made by SG

That could very well be the case.

Because in the days before bats could have additional sponsor's marks on them, MRF wanted to cash in on cricket's popularity, especially in India, by getting major players like Tendulkar, Steve Waugh and Lara to use bats with MRF's logo on them.
