advice needed on removal of fibretec
« on: June 01, 2014, 02:55:20 AM »

Hi all,

Just need some advice on how to remove fibretec from bats, currently using a blade and slowly scraping it all off but was wondering if anyone else has discovered a better way of removing it.

THanks

Heat gun and blade and it will come off like butter.

Hair dryer won't be hot enough.

Hair Dryer works for me. Highest heat setting and gently peal across the grain from edge to edge. You'll feel the facing loosen as the dryer does its job. If you secure the dryer in a vice you can use one hand to hold the blade over the dryer and the other to peal.

Once off leave it overnight so the glue is dry and then sand. Alternatively goo removers work well, but you will still need the sand. Ive also tried a blade to scrape the glue, but be careful not to damage the willow.

Thanks all, used the hairdryer(s) (blew 1 up) and it worked to perfection, lifted and scraped off most of the tec and glue, leaving over night before i hit it with the sander in the morning
