What is a Par T20 Score
« on: June 03, 2014, 04:00:28 PM »

Joined a T20 league with friends (we are all pretty good cricketers playing at weekend in the county leagues) played 4 games now and won 3 lost 1 but the scores seem to vary a lot. We see 135+ as a par score really (rest relies upon pitch) but in the games we have bowled first teams have come out and hit 80 or 100 ish with many wickets in hand looking quite happy at that pace. Standard of teams have varied a lot but what do you guys see as a par score on an average UK wicket?

I'd say 140 plus is good...
Going at 7 an over is a tough ask for most teams...

agree - average club deck and outfield make more than a run a ball tricky.

You rarely see a game with equally matched sides in club cricket where 130 is not a good score.

Even the best clubbies are not professional elite sides and lack the high end skills to milk or murder those extra 20-40 runs that would make for a par score in a pro game.  The comparatively sluggish wickets and lack of serious pace (which can fly off the bat in Powerplays) may also be a factor.

Disagree.

Here our semifinal of the t20 cup last year. Both club sides without a professional insight.

I'd be highly Dissapointed if we didn't achieve more than 150/160 batting first in any t20 game.

This scorecard was from a very very wet day with the outfield boggy, and the wicket damp. Oppo were still same division although they got no where near us.

You need aggressive batsmen with a tad bit of variety and ability to not get bogged down, and you should post a decent score regularly.

In my experience 140+ makes a pretty decent game of it, with 130 certainly defendable. Much less than that and you are relying on the bowlers not to concede any 15+ run overs.

I would say run a ball is the minimum score you would aim for. Par to be around 130-150 depending on the pitch and anything above that should be a winning score.

Obviously there are certain aspects like the track, outfield and boundary size which will affect scores.

Well depends on the size of the boundaries and quality of the outfield.

We play on 65 meter boundary and bad outfield with thick grass at and 110-130 has been winning total in last four games we have played.

where we play, anything below 160 is not considered competitive....as far as the boundary and outfield goes, we play in a defunct international stadium...managed by the State cricket board.

Really depends on the field doesn't it and the quality of the players. If the batsman have some skills then 180 is not a safe score. We had a T20 carnival in April and chased down 140, 185 and 187 very comfortably.

Hmmm, I don't think that is reflective of most club T20 cricket at all.  And from what I recall, thats a pretty small ground too...

its certainly not the largest.

the other sire was at our ground though which is far from small. i can only show a few t20 games. as in the cup you.obviously get drawn against the lower div clubs. so no point showing you a 250plus game is there?

and on a wed we play 12 or 14 over games(8ball overs) which aren't always comparative.

although we have scored 150plus regularly in them and i have 2 tons in that format.
maybe our side is just more suited t20 than most.

No - we've all played in some massacres against sides that were too low of a standard - a few yers ago the Church that abuts our ground decided they wanted to field a side against us and we ran up 300 in 18 overs!  The point is, when you get evenly matched sides, I think scores up over 150 are comparatively rare (eg look at the finals of the national knockout when they're televised - you usually get scores of between 120 and 140)

Par T20 depends on lots of factors. We've scored anything from 112 to 220 in LMS. The limiting factor has been our available team and the strength of the opposition.

But everyone in the team a Monger, that will increase the average score by at least 30!  ;)
