custom bat suggestions
« on: June 05, 2014, 10:57:38 AM »

My current bat is on the way out its a 2lb11 special reserve. In the market to replace it, was impressed with lavers service but am probably looking to go with someone else this time.

I wouldn't describe myself as a classy batsmen more your aggressive middle order type who goes hard at the ball. So looking for a bat that has the performance but also can stand the abuse will most likely give it. 2lb 11 is perfect weight for me so not looking for a tree trunk. Would be interested to hear any thoughts on what people do or don't suggest?

most top end bats are the same

go to your nearest bat makers and have a chat with them. Pick the one you feel most comfortable with.

where are you based?

pretty much anyone on here could make something suitable

I have had bats from most on here and I'm an aggressive player and not had one fall apart on me

depends on budget, where you are and what you want in terms of looks etc really as to where you go

Check out any of the custom threads that mention 'Butterfly' if you want something longer lasting.

If you throw a stick at the forum it will land on lots of bat makers who will make you or supply you with more bats than you need (that's not saying buying more bats than you need isn't a good idea, we all do it).

It's down to a beauty parade, if I'm honest. Who do you fancy? How much?

I'd look at Aldred, H4L, B3

or call Paul @It's Just Cricket. He hand picks his and has a good selection.
Jake at Vitas is a really nice chap, helpful and great service.
There are lots of nice things said about the retailers as they all treat us well.

As they say in game show land.....'The choice is yours'

You're in the right place, deal with any of the sponsors here and you'll be in great hands.

Thanks for the responses. So many great bats to chose from. Am in Norfolk, only local bat maker is Norfolk Cricket bats he makes some lovely bats tho tbe whole county is appears to be using them. Did fancy something a bit different tho they are popular for a reason.

Did have my eye on a H4L Hattori, or one of the blueroom bats

Spoilt for choice at the moment regarding uk based bat makers, , both my Affinity bats and my Aldred bat are on a par if not better than my much loved but knackered(dodgy ball) laver.

Both bat makers come highly recommended

Would also say Asad at Uzi sports is well worth a trip, just to check out his pro bats ,lots of people on here have made the trip, and left with one of his pro bats

I got a vantage lithium - absolutely love bat, one of the best sticks I've owned. Absolutely hated the customer service experience, probably the worst of my life. Would have to think twice before going back, however, this is an amazing piece of willow.

Customer service from Paul at IJC is top notch all the bats he stocks seem to be amazing.

Also recommend aldred he's helpful with choosing the right bat and explaining anything you need to know.
