Few bat test
« on: June 05, 2014, 08:24:06 PM »

So at the nets tonight my purist broke (as you probably saw) which gave me an excuse to try a few bats out.

No pictures, no weights, just my opinion, so here goes.

My Purist 606
Went like a gun, best bat by far. Shame she snapped  :(

Spartan MC 3000
Bought from our very own Paul. Very light pickup, excellent middle on it.
The only thing I dislike was the thin handle, but we all know how to solve that!
Another thing I noticed was the arrow shape sticker on the back was bubbling, slightly ruined the look.

Willow sticks anaconda
This bat picked up slightly bottom heavy, but went well off the middle. Sadly it was in an awful state and needed a good refurb.
I offered the owner £10 and a pint for it that he declined.

Kookaburra blade
Not sure on model. The grains were actually opened. This bat pinged like a trampoline, picked up nice and light and had a large sweet spot. Sadly it didn't get as far as my bag :(

£50 blank eBay job
This was a surprise package, it picked up well (with two grips) and had a lot of wood in the right places.
The middle went very nicely, but other parts of the bat seemed strangely unresponsive.
This was starting to delaminate too (you can see it in the middle) but arguably the best value for money of the bats tested.

Newbery Tomahawk 5*
It's a Newbery, need I say more?
Nice light pickup, good response and large sweet spot.
This particular bat was missing the sticker off the toe and needed a refurb.

And that's my review for the evening, not comprehensive, all opinion based but I thought some would be interested. Now to go on the hunt for another purist to replace mine!  :(
