Dave is it a one year apprenticeship ? And what qualifications would the apprentice come out with at the end of this time ?

Usually apprenticeships   are 3 years and most are   4 and you come out with a city and guild qualification at the very minimum.

Anyone not covered by the age category above will be entitled to the NMW appropriate to their age.

But what it fails to mention is working for the brand in the future I suspect if you do well you will become full time at the end because B3 are growing.

They have become a decent sized brand in a couple of years seen around the country with potential to expand further and look into new markets.

I do not understand the qualifications all I know is you get to work with some leaders in there field, and it is not really a job it is a way of life.

It would be suited to somebody off here who shows the passion required.

From a trained carpenter to just a novice but cricket bat badgering is required.

Education is not about the kids anymore - hasn't been for a while.

GingerBusiness's 10 reasons NOT to become a teacher

1. Secondary school teachers work on average 60h a week according to government reports (We get paid for 32.5h of that on salary) NOT including extra curricular etc.
2. Even with point 1, you are called lazy by the government and parents.
3. You are ridiculed for having long holidays (Which most teachers mostly work in - because we have to - and have to pay higher holiday costs because we are off in peak times).
4. Your pay is at threat (Performance related pay in an organisation which is legally NOT allowed to make a profit - How is that going to work as a tool to improve pay for the best teachers?! Just puts heads under more pressure to cut costs giving them this power) and your pension is under threat.
5. The fact the media portrays teachers are a bunch of unionised slackers who all go on strike everytime we can (Infact, I know for a fact the large majority of teachers only go on strike at times which has minimal impact on students - If we worked to rule, the educational system in the UK would almost stop).
6. All the power you had as a teacher, or would have in other educational systems, has been taken away (Thus behavioural standards have fallen - No serious sanctions)
7. You work under one of the most stringent appraisal systems, in any organisation, in the UK (You can now sack a teacher in less than 3 weeks on competency grounds)
8. By the time I retire, my pension maturity age will probably be 70 (That's another 40 years of the rubbish stated above)
9. You are constantly told the changed in education under the Tories are improving educational standards in the UK... When you know by experience and testing that they are not.
10. If that wasn't enough, there is always one person who tells you;
'Those who can, do. Those who can't, Teach',
'It must be nice getting 15 weeks holiday a year',
'Teaching is an easy job for life',
'You're a teacher because you want to be a peado'
...and my most hated line 'You chose to the profession - I do not know why you are moaning'... I am moaning because I want to give the kids something better than what I had at school. I am moaning because YOUR children are being massively disadvantaged by the state of education in this country. Not because of anything I might receive from it - because of YOUR offspring and the fact that the government is gambling with their futures because, quite simply, they have a man in charge that, barring having a sex change, is Margret Thatcher in his approach to the public sector workers.

Back to the topic in hand - Where is this application form?!?!?! ;)

Could not agree more! It's becoming a truly horrible job. I became a PE teacher because of my passion for sport, but now find myself getting the kids spending more time with clipboards analysing each other than actually taking part. If I don't I get hammered by some idiot observing my lesson who knows nothing about PE. Might as well just sit them in a classroom and watch Sky Sports. Best way to learn is by doing!!!

If I lived anywhere near Nottingham I'd be applying and stuff the pay cut. I'd get a second job and still do less hours than I do now.

An ex student of mine who lives in Nottingham  was  interested in the vacancy if he could have employment with B3 rather than assessed by a Training Provider with a prospects of a job at the end of the training.

All I can say is that for someone like me who was given an opportunity at Salix this is an amazing opportunity for someone. Mine is only part time and fits around my existing career but I have learned so much and been able to be apart of something that I love. The skills that batmakers and engineers can teach you is amazing.

Great opportunity from B3 and I wish whoever gets the job the best of luck.

I've just quit my job as well, if I could survive on that wage it wouldn't even need consideration, such a fantastic opportunity just wish I was a few years younger without responsibilities or bills

This just broke my heart! My dream job and would love to do it but Thursday I suffered 3rd degree burns in aus and won't be returning to England till September so I miss the chance! This sucks as I have been looking for an apprenticeship like this for a few years, I already do bat refurbs and got a mini business just a shame I'll miss the chance. Life kicks you why your down

Agree. 100%

You can only gain. Also it does put you in a good light against some of the workshy in today's society. If you're prepared to get through a serious injury to work for them, that's a real boost for their brand.

Do it. Put together a simple time line of when you can be available and don't forget to tell them how keen you are and what you are prepared to do for the opportunity.
Many will breeze in and have a look, but if you really show them you're made of stern stuff you'll stand out.

Exactly what ruled me out of alloying. I'd have to leave home, move up North, find somewhere to live as well as paying my existing bills + travel.
If they'd consider taking someone on but not as an apprentice (ordered on the job training then off you go) I'd still be tempted!
