'Padman' Style Shorts Recommendations
« on: June 08, 2014, 08:22:05 PM »

I'm going back to the old 'Padman' style shorts again - I simply cannot get on with thigh pads and stripper-style thingies. I am obviously too round in the middle and nothing fits like it should, and keeps slipping Southwards.

Before you all suggest it, I am not going to the expense of Strettons either,

Therefore, I wondered if anyone still used the old Padman style shorts, and if so does anyone think any of the brands available on the market at the moment are any better than the others?

I had a pair of the kookaburra shorts with the slip in pads around 3 years ago before upgrading to strippers. They were very good.

I've used the Kookaburra shorts for a long time now.  Comfortable and light, but wouldn't say that they offer greatest protection. i.e the ball still hurts when you get hit.  Th

I feel your pain. These stripper things weren't designed for the average overweight clubbie. I am dreading the day my dalek like morrants finally rip, they are a fantastic fit. Shame they stopped making them :-(

I use padman shorts, always have done as they are much comfier.

I use Kookaburra ones because they have the elasticated waist which i find better than the drawstring, feels like i dont have them on.

I do however use a thigh pad in the section, not the one given.

Maybe you could cut the bit off the strippers and insert them in the shorts?????

Hmm, I've had the Kooks before, and they were pretty good - plus I play at a right proper poo standard, so this may be the way to go.

Old school, Kook Padman-style shorts, and fit the rounder figure just fine.
