Help Save a Ground
« on: June 10, 2014, 08:45:19 AM »

Hi Guys,

We had an away game at a lovely little ground on Saturday.  It has been used as a second ground for Worcester Park CC for the last couple of seasons and is in danger of being sold off to developers.  As second grounds go, it is one of the best I've played at and in a lot of ways it is better than Worcester Park's main ground (those that have played against Worcester Park in the Surrey Championship or at any level will know what I mean!)

Their skipper asked me to get people at my club to sign a petition to try and save the ground, which I have done, but I thought why stop there?  There's a whole community here who love cricket and hopefully you guys can spare a couple of minutes to sign the petition and help save the ground.

Cheers,

Adam

It was a nice ground to play on.  Better than Worcester park's main one IMO

Gah! The blight of yet more housing on playing fields.

As a relative local down the road in New Malden, I hope the Council re-thinks this.

I play for the Weybridge Vandals, squire. Actually on an island near Walton Bridge. Not to be confused with Weybridge CC.
Although my nearest ground is Alec Stewart's club, Malden Wanderers.
You?

Old Rutlishian's in Morden, although I have played at Worcester Park and Cheam when I was younger.  Think I played a sunday friendly against your mob a few years ago when I was at Cheam.

Developers have to build somewhere and if the land owner wants to sell then why shouldn't they.

I am on both sides of this stuff myself so see both sides but it should be down to the owner to do with it what they want.
