Anyone tried an Albion Elite?
« on: June 13, 2014, 10:05:24 AM »

Like the look of these - particularly the lightweight titanium grill Pro version.
I've done a search for mentions of it in the forum, but can't find any.

So has anyone experience of the Pro or Club versions and prepare to share their thoughts? I'd be interested in the weight of either, too.

Cheers.

The foam fell out of mine and I found the grille to be very bulky, also, the ear pieces fell out very easily.

I had a club one. Polystyrene fell out after 4 seasons of abuse, but it was a decent lid.
I found it got very hot wearing it but I'm not blessed with Alastair Cook's sweat glands!

Also the bottom of the range one weighs a lot (but as it was my first lid I didn't know any better)

I used to use one while keeping, felt cheap and nasty, not so much at the time but only after getting an Ayrtek as it's pure class.

Which one is the Elite? I had a look and seems to me there are different models with the name elite against them.

Is it the one which drops down to protect the neck?

I have the test Elite which I think is now "Elite Pro" I find it incredible comfy, great vision. The polystyrene has come loose after 6 months, but I've got some Sugru to fix that :D

Thanks for thoughts, folks. Bit of a mixed bag.

I've been looking at the Aussie homepage - I don't know if they're named differently over here, but the Elite Pro is the lightest one in the Elite range. The Elite Club is the same, but with a steel grille:

Funnily enough I ordered a custom gloss black Ayrtek Premier Titanium from Tom, but it was too big for my noggin, so I had to send it back.
A bit of a surprise was the fact that it was also appreciably heavier than my old steel grille Masuri which I'm still using after a decade.

Swear by this helmet mate. Best helmet I've ever had.

I had the elite helmet a few years back. I loved it.It was the best fitting helmet I've had personally. My only issue was I could not get on with grill.I found it too bulky and no matter what setting I had it in the top bar always seemed to interfere with my vision The new grills seem to be less bulky but with the new regulations it seems even closer to the peak.
