Many may have seen this knock but that bat was not knocked in at all straight out of the wrapper

33 off 13 balls

Tim Phillips smashing it for Essex Natwest T20 Blast

LISTEN TO THE VOICE OVER STARTS AT 50 SECONDS LISTEN TO THE SOUND OF THE BAT

My B3 butterfly was pretty hard for the first few net sessions and games , and it was sounding awful and vibrating badly anything not from the middle, and that was after I got b3 in house knocking in service when I bought the bat but now after few games it starting to sound good and responds well, still sound awfull near the toe.

I don't understand why a pro would play with a bat which is not knocked in when everyone here keep repeating how important it is to  properly knocking in a bat ?  actually that was the reason I got in house knocking in when I bought the bat and now after reading this I feel like I just wasted a 20 quids, no offence.

I guess this hitting is more due to him being a pro so what bat he had in his hand or how much knocking in was done is pretty much irrelevant to the way he middled the shots.

No offense taken mate.

I think it is worth knocking in more for longevity than performance.

But this is my own personal troughs.

Difference is a pro if he breaks he just replaces every time where us mere mortals tend to have them fixed rather than replaced (depends what the damage is)

Hard interesting do people rate the so called hardness on sound or by how hard.

Pro do tend to middle the ball more than us were mortals too i guess.

Because if it was over pressed it wouldn't get any better.

I'm a old fashioned bugger who knockes my bat in for around 2 weeks but will keep knocking in till my other bat is finished and then use.

Maybe The Doctor will come on and explain as my thoughts are purely my own.

Have to agree with what Dave has said. I personally knock bats in myself, and it helps prolong them and get them ready for a new hard ball.

Some people don't enjoy knocking them in, and services that are offered from bat makers come in quite nicely when you can't be arsed to do so!
20 of the queens is a decent price to pay for knocking in!

an Essex player and a great bat, what a wonderful combo. Can't get much better.

Phillips does hit a clean ball.
