Looking for a bat for my child.
« on: June 29, 2014, 11:45:08 AM »

Hello everyone , I am looking to buy an english willow (any grade preferably 3 or below though) cricket bat for my child below £70 preferably around £50 if possible.
My child is looking for an extremely light bat (2lbs or below) but the pick up is the most important thing .
I have looked at MSR so other suggestions please (e. g . can I get a bat to my specs hand picked for IJC.
Thanks
James

What size are you looking for? I've got a couple of clefts that may suit. Drop me a pm if you want to discuss

Red Ink did my lad a size three to requirements I set out, mainly, light pick-up with as long a middle as possible to get good value for shots.  He's just started playing with it (he's just turned 8), and clobbered 8 runs off his two overs in his first game.  The grips Red Ink put on are great.  Really nice and grippy.

nice willow too and a good price, certainly in the range you're looking for.  I'd recommend if you want custom made to suit a specific purpose.

I'd second Tom Lines suggestion about the Gen X. If you need a size 3 or smaller the english willow model is the Academy. My son has one and it's a terrific little bat, great grains and it has off set edges (so in theory a long middle).

Jake at Vitas sorted me out a great deal on two of these in size 2 & 3.  My boys have just started training with a corky, and the bats do have a very good ping, really amazing value for English Willow.  Because they were such a good price I don't weep when they use them on playgrounds and our drive.

The Academy grade from GN is terrific value.

£35 can't go wrong.

Seems like a good deal, need a bit more info on the child before I agree to the swap though. :D
