Bat refurb
« on: July 02, 2014, 03:24:17 AM »

Hi everyone,

Just showing what I have done recently. I took the stickers off the back of my bat, as they were peeling off. I decided to leave the marks on, as I find them cool. What does everyone think?

I like how I can still see the logos and stuff.

it wont be everyone's cup of tea on this forum but its your choice, looks pretty cool IMO but will see how long it lasts as the weather hits it, it will fade

why not just refurb then rather than waiting to fade, just sand the entire bat

I want to leave the marks on, and see if I still like them after a while.

It would be nice to see if there are others who did something like this.

I don't mind it. You may get sick of the comments from the slips and get the replacement stickers on quicker than you expected. I know I would try to break your concentration with some light hearted barbs. I love banter so it doesn't bother me.

The other issue is trying to sand the marks off can take too much weight off the bat and lighten it too much.

I refurbed a mates bat with some fake Adidas Tendulka stickers. The gum was so thick and dark that it took a bit of sanding even after I get it dry for a day. Luckily oiling and a facing brought it back and he liked it a bit lighter.

I have learned from this and purchased some glue remover for the next time.

I have seen people walk out with blank bats and the only sledging is 'This guy is looking for a new sponsor'. After that, not much about the bat is said.

I have to say, you'd have to be very thin skinned for that barb to get to you!

Also, I use two grips on my bat to make it feel lighter, so I would have no problem with the lack of weight.

Next time, use acetone to remove the glue, worked really well for me.

I know right, I would take that as a compliment

Simply saying, 'why do you guys know anyone?' would do.

That said, I got the best sledge the other day, it made me laugh.

'You think you're really f'ing good don't you!'

Cracked me up.
