Yes I do have a set of strettons, but that's Wilkie's fault! Be made me do it  ;)
The reason I bought them was because I like shiny new kit, and they'll last forever.
With a bat I can get 4 shiny new ones that are a bit ugly for the price of one shiny new pretty one.

Anyway I'm waffling. In short - strettons pay once they'll last forever.
Bats - pay less and get more and they'll last the same amount of time as a more expensive one.

If I like it ill buy it. I have spent £400 on a pro bin Kudos and also before I worked at Salix the AJK at £400 also. Arguably the two best pod shavers in the business so happy to have parted with the money.

I would have bought a Legend but that price for a Indian made bat I'm afraid I refuse.

As above. Most I have ever paid was £250 in 2012 for that year's Kookaburra Kahuna Players. Used it last season and this, very pleased with it and feel it has made a positive difference to my batting. Has also proved to be a good deal as they are rarely seen new below this.
£250 is probably still my current maximum budget, personal decision based on factors such as financials, enjoyment of playing (high) and playing level (not high).
Definitely very good new bats around for £150 particularly when big brands are discounted (usually starting from around this time of year), plus the makers on the forum that can offer consistent value all year round and quality at this price point.

To be honest the maximum amount of money I'd spend on a bat would depend on where I am financially at the time and if the bat ticks the correct boxes for me. Why not have the best kit you can afford, whether it be Stretton fox thigh pads to a Screaming cat...after all everyone on here obviously enjoys the game enough to spend time on a cricket forum, so if it makes you happy and gives you a mental boost get the equipment you want - that's my views anyways but it's mainly the reason why I'm all the gear, no idea!

Maximum spent 275.00 in 2012 on a custom made Black Cat shadow which i am disappointed with. Used it in the nets last week for the first time this season and it still does not feel right.

I spent $400 on a GN Ultimate in the mid 90s. That would be maybe $a700 bat these days.

Im cheap these days and grade3 willow $200-300 will do me as I don't care about looks, only performance. Plus I can buy more bats if their cheaper.

I don't think I would pay more than £140/150.Especially after being on this forum Ive bought 4.The missus would hit the roof if I bought anymore  :D

Of all the bats i have bought in the last 12 months the most I have paid is ?275 for another Joker.
I also picked up another 2 lightly used Jokers. One of the things I have noticed is that Black Cat have either changed batmakers since 2011/12 or they have changed the way they are pressing their bats. My original Joker and Shadow purchased in 2011/12 had very soft faces and took hours to knock in. The latest batch of Jokers are definitely pressed much harder. They still hammer the ball but there is a big difference in feel. The new Joker only required 1 hour of mallet work to knock in.
The other thing I noticed is in the AOC Gear Test one of the testers commented that the Shadow felt very hard pressed. This is in stark contrast to my Shadow and original Joker which have always felt softly pressed.

Most so far is 220 GBP + postage which at the time due to favorable exchange rates worked out to something like $340 AU (including postage). While that was more than worth it for the Supremes I got off Aldred, I don't think I will spend that much again. If I had to put it in my local currency I would say no more than $400 all up (which works out to roughly the same ie 220 quid in the UK), but it would have to be special.

Have got a couple of absolute bargains in recent times second hand that I am very pleased with, so I think might go that way from now on. Saves me having to knock in as well!
