Hi

I'm new to the forum and I couldn't find anything regarding redwood cricket company.

I recently bought a bat from them so I thought I would do a quick review.

I purchased the redwood artisan cricket bat in the limited edition grade, it had decent looks evenly spaced grains and a touch of heartwood on the edge of the bat. It has no concaving at all and medium edges with a medium spine height (can put up measurements if it's easier).

The bat seems to go reasonably well, nowhere near as good as my other bat however, I am still hoping after a few more net sessions it will open up a bit more.



If anyone has heard anything else about redwood please let me know, and any opinions on the profile and looks are welcomed along with any questions

Yeah it's got a nice long middle good because I play on some awful decks and some bouncy ones

imho it doesn't look like a LE grade bat to me, nothing special about the grain structure or the amount of wood/density (especially if the weight is above 2.9.5).
But if it plays very well I won't complain.

Looks nice but I would agree with amritpremi's comment about the grading, the LE bit is nonsense, just a way of making more money for a standard G1 cleft - what weight is it out of interest?

The LE is only their 2nd top model, so effectively Grade 2, in as much as that means.

I think redwood is in someway connected to B3. Not like joint companies but the owner was part of GM or something.

Not heard much about them or ever seen one . All I know is there stickers are just awful and look so cheap and nasty. Not sure why a G2 or non top end bat is called LE either.

However if you like it and it plays well for you then good luck mate. Welcome to the forum but if you find you want to spend £240 or there a outs again I would strongly advise you to look at some of the forum brands or sponsors to help you out.

I was of the understanding that Redwood was started by Scott Richardson (the chap who used to own Romida)

The Le may be there 2nd model. But it still states on there website that it is grade 1 willow!

It looks far superior(interms of looks) to my gm original which is also meant to be grade 1 willow.

I've also seen bats from Newbury salicylic m and h that looks a lot less pleasing and are stated as go willow. So not sure why people think this is g2.

Correct. Scott is the money man and designs the bat shapes. He then has them made elsewhere.

The grading process means nothing as it's all subjective and far too open to interpretation.

Not too bothered about the cosmetics of the bat, but I feel the stickers are pretty unambitious in a marketplace that is very competitive.

Lots of people buy because of stickers or nice shiny branding - I think they could be jazzed-up a lot.

The weight is around 2.9 picks up very well.
