I've heard of Mars literally giving their kit away, Woodstock are the same.  I actually asked Vanquish for a sponsorship last year and they only sponsor County/Minor County players so I don't think its fair to assume they are one of the "main culprits" lol.  Ive heard of simply cricket but I thought they did coaching? are they into kit now too?

Not according to a lot of my emails! Wouldn't touch Vanquish with a barge pole anyway, had a run in with them a few years back and he really was a piece of work. Claimed to be selling UK made bats when they clearly weren't - refused a refund at first and then when he eventually agreed, after approaching trading standards, he had the cheek to claim I'd damaged it and only refunded about half the amount, it'd been sat in it's box ever since arriving!

Full sponsorship as in free kit, or just the discount you could get from any retailer for a full kit?

I still reckon anything less than a full county pro (even then, some are not regular players!) or guys who sell kit for a brand with proven record first and it's pointless but hey ho, good luck to them. I'm sure we have a few here who get cheap/free kit

Agree and my theory is most of them are lucky to get it because I wonder what some bring to the brand.

Brings a sale to the brand, that's literally it in 99% of cases.

But then £50 of discounted profit is better than nothing for some!

Also I would imagine it gets the brand seen. Yes, it might not being used by well known player but if you see the brand being used in enough places it gains a certain acceptance and recognition when people are next buying kit.

If you get a young up coming guy with potential you may get some brand exposure before they get offered the big bucks.

Take Ashton agar for instance.

Tnf sponsored him since youth, random call up to aus after a few first team games. Score 99 on debut in a test.

Tend got exposure, only for that test, but it's exposure. Could they afford to sponsor an already test playing player? Probably not.

Very few players outside county or minor counties get full kit completely free some brands do a monthly young player award for part free kit but most who are sponsored ihas already written its a percentage discount.

Half my uni got 'sponsored' by Woodstock, all you needed to do was fill the form out and you got your 25% off it seems... not worth much as their bats are about 25% pricier than most anyway! They'll make more money selling kit direct that way than they will selling through retailers, simple as that. As for Mars, I doubt they sell many at full price tbh, at least at a discount they're selling some!
