Bringing bats back from Australia

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone has had any experiences bringing bats back from Australia (were there issues at customs etc)?

I'd assume they would be ok if placed in a suitcase etc but wanted to check as I am off in September and will be looking for any potential bargains while out there..  :D

I don't think you'll have too many problems with customs. The bigger problem would be finding potential bargains!

Especially at that time of the year, after new stock comes in, and not much old stock left. You will find a bargain, except you have to look harder

Thanks.  Normally I would have thought the same regarding prices, but I've noticed on a couple of Aus sites which have bats like the Dynadrive for $225 which if my maths is correct is around £125 at the moment.  :)

Brought bats back in my suitcase after my stint in the uk, declared them, no problems at all. They just asked if they were from the uk or somewhere else. All good from uk apparently. Didn't even take them out of the boxes they were in

Go to a decent shop and you will find some good value, you claim back any GST as well.

You claim GST back at customs office at the airport. Have to show the original receipt and the item.

In Brisbane you can't get better variety than at Grieg Chappell cricket centre. It is generally expensive though but buyers from Uk benefit from currency conversion and GST refund

Yeah - England to Australia is fine mate. Never had a problem with my gear.

Unfortunately, they do not like CA/Malik gear in my experience... X-rayed my mate's 15000 and LE (He waited an extra hour so the x-ray could take place because initially they wanted to drill them!!!).

I have bought a number of bats from overseas,,,,,including CA 10000, Malik bubber sher limited edition, MSR and Adidas Pellara EliteXT and never had any problems with X-Raying or drilling by Aust Customs/quarantine.
