Choices - Salix vs SS
« on: July 29, 2014, 09:41:59 AM »

My son is in need of some new pads before a tour to Australia (Most likely facing bowling of 130 kmph +) and we cannot decide between the SS test opener pads
(for 2014) or the Salix pod players pads. The price for the SS pads is $130 NZD  (65 pounds) and for the Salix pads it is $160ish- $170 NZD (80-85 pounds). All i am asking, is that is there a significant difference in protection, quality etc and/or just your general opinion on which to go for and why.

Both of the pads will be of similar quality and stand up to your requirements, IMO I'd go for the SS if you're picking between the 2 - otherwise you're just spending more money on the Salix name for no real reason

The Salix pod arma will offer suitable protection mate and will save you a few £ mate as the protection levels are suitable for that pace of bowling mate a couple of mates use them in the kent premier level. I use the HH pads which are the same as the arma model basically and have no problems with bowling machine on mid 80's when I get wrapped on pads.

Save your money and get the SS pads.

I doubt you'll notice the difference other than you've saved a bunch of money.

Agree with Eddie, the SS pads are just as good (if not better)... the Pro level pads are like wearing little battle tanks on each leg... you don't feel a thing... light and comfortable as well... definitely recommend 2014 SS softs

Thanks very much for the contributions, sorry SOULMAN12 but we have decided to go for the SS pads. Once again, thanks again to everyone who replied to my post.

Just to add I currently have SS Test Opener (as worn by most SS sponsored Pros) and have never felt any discomfort at 90+ MPH (bowling machine).

For me these offer the Perfect combination of style, comfort and protection.
