Masuri helmet
« on: July 30, 2014, 12:49:54 PM »

What is the difference between the wicketkeeper helmet and the standard helmet ?

Found an elite wk one brand new for 29 quid, not sure whether it will be ok for batting too ?

Why do we put ourselves through it ?

Shorter peak & cut out round the back so you can move your neck easier.
You might look a bit village wearing it to bat if you're not a keeper  ;)

I've worn my WK one to bat plenty of times without comment from opposition.

The fact that there is even less peak to play with compared to a normal masuri makes me think it is probably going to be easier for a ball to squeeze through. Also the fact that many manufacturers (including Masuri) are making helmets to meet the new safety standard with a design that sees the helmet sweep lower to try and cover more of the back of the head closer to the neck makes me think the cut out on the WK helmet isn't terribly safe in that respect either.

My advice, get an Ayrtek/Adidas.
