With Sam Robson not really showing the technique for Test cricket. Does Jonathan Trott merit a recall for the fifth and final Test against India?

Obviously he's not an opener, so the batting order would need to be rejigged, as Trott is best suited to 3/4.

Trott has recently been scoring few good scores. 76 vs Durham and 106 vs Sussex in the county championship.

He's also scored 78 vs Middlesex and today 106 vs Durham in the 50 over competition.

If Trott scores some more big runs should he be recalled? As no one deserves their international career to end how Trott's ended.

No point in bringing him back in my opinion. If he suffers a relapse then England will be back to square one. If he's still doing it this time next season maybe if he thinks he can handle it.

Only averaging 37 this year in CC so far from his 5 games so I personally don't think the management will think it's worth the risk ever picking him again after past experiences the England team have had, probably quite a few more people ahead of him at the moment as well.

The media circus has died down and now it looks like he is doing well.

Good for him. Trescothick has had a full career since but staying away from the media circus is key.

I think that it's likely to be similar to Trescothick, but having learned the lessons from that, it's very unlikely that he will be recalled to the England set up.

I almost hope that he plays out the rest of his career like Trescothick has to be honest, it's time we looked to the future and Trott isn't getting any younger after all, stick with Robson and give him a good run in the team

Trott is 33. He's still a high quality player.

Just look at old Shiv, he's 39, and he's still going strong.

I think there's just so much young talent around here at the moment though that he'll struggle anyway, the West Indies need an experienced player in the team like Shiv, here the youth are the ones performing well.

Don't get me wrong I've got no problems with youth being blooded.

But Trott, as his very best, is a world class batsman. The youngsters can feed off him.

Anyway as much as I'd like to see Trott return, it does seem unlikely.

Trott is good, but need to groom young players for next 5 years...India did the same thing (Kicking out Gambir, Yuvraj S., Virender S.)

For Trott to return, you would have to move Ballance to 6 or Bell and Root both down one. Therefore losing someone therefore losing an allrounder or having one of the middle order open instead of Robson.

Either way, it would not benefit England at this time.

Opening in red ball cricket is quite different to white ball cricket in my opinion.

it will be some time before trott is ready to come back, the probability of he coming back before aus in the summer is negligible.
by then he will be another year older.

I am afraid his time has been and gone.

if Mitchell Johnson gets injured and we need an experienced batter mid way through the ashes is his only chance.
