Fire at Kook UK..
« on: August 01, 2014, 08:09:31 AM »

Emailed Kook to see if they'd do a weight reduction for me and got the following email response. Sounds awful and a really horrible thing to happen to them. I hope this doesn't set them back too much:

Morning Imran

Unfortunately we are unable to offer such service at this time. We recently had a fire in our workshop and lost the whole unit along with our tools. Thankfully we are starting to get back up and running but with very minimal equipment at this time. The equipment needed to remove weight from the bat unfortunately we don’t have. So at this moment in time I cannot offer any service.

Sorry for the inconvenience

I imagine that the blaze was spectacular, but it is a sad loss of all that willow!

I imagine Jake will be able to inform us how far away the workshop is to the main storage of bats etc as it may just have been isolated to the workshop and potentially not burnt all the bats?

All bats are imported.

The fire happened ages ago, early Summer. It did not spread to the area where bats/softs/bags etc are all stored.

I've never been through the big mystical double doors where they make some of the rubber based balls (incrediballs etc) and i assume where they do refurbs, so i don't know the layout of that area or the extent of the damage.

Everyone is OK to my knowledge.

I sent a Kookaburra Kahuna players bat for refurbishment and the fire happened few days after that and my bat was apparently ruined or destroyed due to the fire. So they offered and sent me a brand new Kookaburra Kahuna players bat.
