Took Advantage Of July's Special Offer...
« on: August 02, 2014, 02:37:26 PM »

Finally decided to go for my first Laver on a bit of a whim, my old GN match bat is looking a bit tired (thats my excuse anyway!). Have to say I wasn't sure what to expect from a company sending me something from half way around the world and I was a bit apprehensive about what might arrive. I went for the July Special offer Numero Uno, but the exact bat they advertised had been sold unfortunately. However Anthony said they run the same price on the same spec all month so I went for a copy of that bat with two proviso's, a C-10 handle and a request for maximum grains as I'm a total grainiac. I've had 24 hours to admire it from every angle and add an extra grip and I have to say all in all, its a stunner. i did ask for 2.9 and it came in 2.11.6 on the scales which was slightly annoying, but it doesn't feel wrong in the hands. in fact its still extremely light for the sheer size of the bat, there is absolutely zero concaving and you just know its going to be a complete menace. Here's a link to the blurb from the offer and pics of the original bat before pics of its cousin...

I would be very frustrated with the weight difference - however 9/10 it is a problem with the scales (my bats vary day to day on them). The willow looks absolutely fantastic - I have just bought a Laver too, and mine only has 6 or 7 grains so clearly they preferred you! How does the bat sound when you hammer it, mine is quite 'tinny' and I wonder is mine an isolated case or is this part and parcel of the C10 handle.

That is a perfect profile- all bats should look like that!

Good looking bat...is this a short blade or it just looks like it in the picture?

just a trick of the angle i took the photo from, standard blade-standard handle. Mine sounds pretty deep and boomy but I did get it hand knocked in before it was posted. they seem to have done a good job in that respect, this seems like one of those bats thats just ready to go from off. My HFL was the same, didn't knock that in at all and it never felt brittle or tinny in the slightest. She's going to get her first game tomorrow, fingers crossed I don't bat like a wally and get out too early to see what she can really do.
