My new Bat Design maybe i will get it made.
« on: August 03, 2014, 03:01:16 PM »

Following on from the very successful "DW" i have sat at home and designed a new potential shape which i hope to get made into a Cad design then maybe even into a bespoke.

It follows on from my all time favorite bat the "1271" bat design and is a hybrid.

Here is my thoughts after looking at my bat i tend to hit the ball mostly 14 to 15 inches down from the handle so i though it is where i want the meat.

I like the handle and shoulder size balancing so i went for this but enough of the ramblings here is my idea..

Lets see what it will look like will it work??

As you can see not sure what weight this will be out at but i have a vision

Looks like that will be quite a meaty blade with plenty in the middle rather than the edges Dave.  ;)

Yes mate mate will see the drawings it is quite traditional but with a twist.

I basically looked at my bats and though of something different a mix of a few and as my 1271 has great balance because of the handle which has the biggest oval handle i have ever seen and big shoulders the pick up is second to none.

I though about edge size but i tried to save weight somewhere i would prefer a bigger spine than edges 30mm is fine for this project.

Tim made a good point might bring the toe down at 19 inch to 40 then 20 inch to 30 then 21ich down  to 20...

Might have been a tad bottom heavy.

Any other suggestion fire away all ears..

Hm, as song as it's not too duck billed - I know some people love 'em but I've never really warmed to that design.

It will not be duck billed i have that profile one here and although i like it people say it has wired balance i don't i like it.

My theory is coverage over sheer size as most of us are clubbies we need as much help and why not get a bigger better hitting area..

I'm a clubber myself and this would come in handy. If you have this style available once you get your next batch of butterfly willow in I'd be keen to get of couple of the lighter clefts done up as this bat.

Have you changed it much from the profile I drew up for you?

Yes if it a lighter cleft which I think it could be going for 40-41mm edges but still keep weight down.

Spine will not change much but will see on the cad what can be done

3d will show your idea better than the 2d I showed you. Least I ironed out the dodgy bits of the shape ;)
