Fiberglass Tape or Twine ???
« on: August 08, 2014, 03:17:22 PM »

Hey what u guys prefer to use to reinforce bat repairs ??

I personally use twine when is out of the sweet spot of the bat (toe and near the splice) but in other areas of the bat i prefer bat tape...

Some people says twine is useless and dont look good on bat and some says bat tape dont have the strength that twine can give to reinforce a repair/crack.

Whats ur preferd method ?

Never tried twine, i'd be worried i couldn't get it tight enough to make much of a difference

It depends on the repair the greater the split i use twine as I find it's stronger than fibreglass tape.

If you twine a bat and are worried it won't get tight enough get a paintbrush and paint a layer of PVA around the twine after applying it. This will cause the twine to contract and tighten around the wood. Needs to be unwaxed twine though.

I apply glue to the bat itself in the edges and spine just a drop while i am wrapping the twine as tight as possible, it  has helped me to keep the twine very tight... once i finish i apply several coats of glue to all the twine until it gets hard...

Has worked perfct for me....

Never used twine but never liked the look of it on a bat. Always used Fibreglass tape and never had an issue with it not being tight enough. If you have a good quality tape you can get it tight

In my case i like more the look of twine than tape on bats...

Sometimes i use bat tape and cover it with twine because i like more the look of it LOL

But mostly use just twine like this:

cheers
