Agreed. Tape first. Cover the entire area where it cracked, start at the opposite edge and pull the tape across the face around the glue edge tightly to the back and back onto tape to bond. No need to overdo it with extra layers. You can make it neat so it looks good if you take you time. Then apply facing.
I did it the other way on someone else's bat, then used strips of really strong clear facing as tape over the top. Either way it will break again eventually. Hopefully after a season or two more.
Btw I am going to be using my Torq Series for the first time this season in Aus. Just wondering, besides the bad luck, whether you like using the bat.
I put a facing on mine but after a few nets realised 2.12 was too heavy for me, so off came the facing, half grip and toe guard Now 2.10 1/2. Still picks up nicely and feels very forgiving.
