What are these lines?

I nocked in my new bat over the last week or so.

I had a quick net the other day, 30 balls max and these lines parallel to the grains appeared.



Can you see it on the right hand side, below the grain with the blemish. Right next to the grain there is a line that looks like a tiny crack?

I tried some 400 grit paper on it and it is still there?

Any advice would be much appreciated!

Bit more sanding (maybe a few grades of rougher paper working up to the fine stuff to see if you can sand it out) Oil the bat, leave a week, last (very) fine sanding, scuff sheet on there, no need to panic.

Vertical cracks are okay, actual a good sign of the bat beginning to open up. Just leave them alone.

The bat has been knocked in and is 'opening up'.

Stick a face sheet on it if you are worried :)

Agree the bat is opening up all bats should eventually crack vertically failure to do so means they  been pressed to hard.

It is an MSR special nicknamed Humphrey - check it out and my review on the MSR page!

It is a proper gun and for somebody who does not play a 'high' standard of cricket it is worth the money!
