Nice to see Hales in the mix.

There is Morgan and Tredwell as usual. No Bopara this time though. Gurney keeps his spot too.

I can't believe they have dropped Bopara. I know he's not exactly got many fans on this forum but it seems madness to drop him in the form that he's in.

Would have liked to have seen Jason Roy and James Taylor in the mix as well.

Cooks only on the squad because he's captain!

Jason Roy should be in there for me, surprising that bopara has dropped. Not his biggest fan but i think he is a good ODI player. I personally dont rate either Gurney or Tredwell but there is noone exactly standing out to replace them at the moment

i would have kept bopara in the side. i dont understand why they dont pick their best 11 which for me would include hales and jason roy in the top 4 and then pick a captain from that side.

cook trying to change his game to be more aggressive in odi is bound to affect his test batting form

Ridiculous to drop Bopara in my opinion, one of our most valuable limited overs players in my opinion.

Bopara should be in the squad for sure... not to bothered about Roy being in the side, maybe too early?
I like how they stuck with Gurney, good continuity and it is always good to have a Left Arm Quick in the side!

Looks like england have finally dumped bo para after having a fantastic season
Plenty of england fans think it was the flower essex connection that kept him in the one day side
Personally I think he should be in but unless something dramatic happens he may be another ramprakash-supremely gifted but didn't do much at the highest level
Shame...he has a lot of talent

If Cooks a oneday player I'm Jesus Christ!
Bopara's exemption is crazy.

I think Ali is lucky to have got in given his batting has been pretty poor against India

Gurney - Notts connection in overtime to keep him in. Doesn't swing the ball or bowl with an real pace. Doesn't get anybody out first up as a consequence!

Has anyone tried to work out what the first choice side is from this lot?
I am really struggling - mainly because I don't see Cook as in my best team... regardless

Cook
Hales
Ballance
Morgan
Root
Buttler
Stokes
Jordan
Tredwell
Anderson
Finn

Leaving out Moeen, Bell, Gurney and Woakes - however all 4 of them could be in the first choice team given these guys are part of the "chosen ones" and have to play it is odd.

How much better would that team look if Roy was opening with Hales? I also think the batting beyond Butler looks weak... Woakes is a genuine batsman and may come in ahead of Stokes. But his bowling will be one day cannon fodder. Which means that Ali could come in for Root. But that weakens the batting further...

we are 6 months from a world cup with a very unbalanced squad of players.

That's a long tail after Stokes there Buzz!

My picks would out of the squad would be:

Hales
Ali
Bell
Ballance
Morgan (c)
Root
Stokes
Buttler (wk)
Jordan
Tredwell
Finn

Personally I'd rest anderson.  In English conditions, Finn has to play.

I like to pick 6 people who can bowl in my team - hence the tail - and stokes is a walking wicket in international cricket at the moment - but all of my bowlers are wicket takers (apart from tredwell...)

I would be worried about your 5th bowler and (for that matter your 4th bowler) going for runs.

Actually the same could be said for my team (given they are mostly the same people!)
I want Buttler in as early as possible because if he bats for 25 overs we have a huge score - what is the point of having your best batsman at 8?
