A Pro's pro and NV G2
« on: August 27, 2014, 09:09:52 PM »

Hi all thought I would share a very special bat I picked up from Matt. I played in the forum game the other week and had heard a lot of great things about H4L bats but had never owned one. So I had messaged Matt a few times and he was very helpful. I was thinking about a light devil grade as I knew Matt produced some great budget bats.

So I arrived at the workshop nice and early before anyone elsa too look through all the offerings ( didn't want anyone taking the best bats  :D. I looked through a few and found a lovely light devil but when I went into Matts workshop I noticed a massive bat on the side picked it up and it was like a feather. Asked Matt what this was and it was a bat he made for Brendan Nash but apparently he netted with it and didn't get on with it. Well I just had to have it. Picks up like a toothpick but looks like railway sleeper one of the biggest bats for weight I have come across. The Pro weighs 2.89 with 2 grips, 42 mm edge and huge spine and oh boy does it ping performance is unreal.

As well as this I found a lovely G2 NV and it just feels lovely in my hands, has quite a thin oval handle in my view but fits my hobbit hands so well and balance and pick up is quality. Tapped up an old ball on it and knew that was coming home with me as well even though Saunders tried I think to make sure it went home with him. This weighs 2.9 dead on with single snake grip and face sheet.

Used the Pro today in a midweek game and was so impressed up there with any of my current bats. Here are a few pics for you all.

Lovely bats, the Pro one definitely looks like it has that extra volume put into the extension of the spine. The NV is a lovely bat too, I may or may not have gotten my paws on one today, so will try start up a thread about it when I have time. ;)

Out of interest, how do you find the handles? Always found H4L to be a bit on the thin side, which isn't a bad thing for folk like me who like a slightly thinner handle, but I find it thin even for myself!

Got 59 and then retired as oppo we're not strong and we had a few colts playing so gave them a bit of time in the middle. Not going to say but Matt was very generous.

The handle on the NV is different to that on the pro. Agree the handle on the NV is a thin oval but for my hands is perfect the 2nd grip iv added under the original feels perfect in my hands.

Having seen these in the flesh I can vouch that you are a very lucky boy. We all know you will end up flogging it, can I get first refusal? :-)

Since that visit to H4L I really want one and if I wasn't a bit lost looking for it I reckon is have made a purchase. Might contact Matt and see what he's got in stock :-)

At the moment I have 14 but I will be reducing this in the coming days as I'm going to be moving house fairly soon so some and kit need to go unfortunately.

You won't use the Pro Bat enough to justify it's space in your spare room - you know you won't.

Give it to me now.

You are in my power.

You are feeling very sleepy.

Just a quick update on these 2 beauties. Used them both today on my way to 74 in my final game of this year. Used the BN bat to score 50 and must say its a pleasure to bat with. It's massive and gives lovely confidence when using it as well as pinging very well indeed hit an effortless 6 when only looking to work to finest off my pads or 1 but timed it and it just carried miles.

Then when I got to 50 decide to give to NV a go. After batting with the BN bat there was a noticeable difference in the weight and pick up and took a few deliveries to get used to as the BN is just so light and pick up is amazing. Any way the NV also plays so well, does feel a little soft at the moment but I hit a couple right out the middle and hardly felt like I hit the ball and had an amazing sound to it as well.

So in summary 2 amazing bats and I can agree with most that H4L bats perform exceptionally well and can't wait to use again next season.

Agree about the NV feeling pretty soft, I have a G2 one as well! I've been whacking it with a mallet for a while now, and it still feels like it needs more. Does make a cracking sound though! May have to thicken the handle somehow though, is a touch too thin for myself! Glad you're getting along well with them. :)

Chris - Chadders. For some reason I always thought the NV had a high middle - would you say it has, the pictures I've seen look more like a mid or standard middle.
