New CA bat..?
« on: August 28, 2014, 02:30:48 PM »

A couple of weeks ago I noticed Shoaib Malik using a new CA bat, SM-18. I have been searching online ever since but havent been able to find anyone whose stocking it. Did anyone else notice the new model? Couldnt find any pics online either.  :(

Looked decent, in terms of branding. More of a simple look, which is unlike CA.

They've almost gone to the other extreme. A bit too minimalist branding for my liking (or it could be that these are not all the stickers)

Can't find any info on it though

I think I preferred the minimal look on Shoaib Malik's own bat.  :D

Thank you for sending the pics through, about time CA offer a minimalist branded model!

Anyone else think this looks similar to a GM argon?

Despite pictures differ from what Shoaib Malik has in his hands, this is indeed minimalist look by CA.

Certainly a positive move by CA, wonder where this stacks in CA's catalogue.

Very nice !

Where did you get this bat from? I don't think this model CA bat is released yet.

The bat that SM used in county (when playing for the Bears and also in CPL) seems to have no concaving, in fact the profile looks almost rounded. Mine has a bit of concaving. The other interesting thing about the bat is the pressing: it is extremely soft! My mallet left some fine indentations and I was not hitting hard.

It is a cannon.

I think the one he's using in the picture just has incomplete stickers. I've often seen him remove the toe stickers in the past...

Price wise it's up there with Players Edition but doesn't feature in their catalogue at the moment because it's not been released. I would suggest it's around Big Bang Dilshan/ KP when it does.

This one WAS destined for SM I'm told but can never be sure with these claims. Watch this space for a review soon.  ;)

Which bat do you have? Surely the mallet is expected to leave indentations if it's not been knocked in?

played against this guy yesterday: http://www.espncricinfo.com/icl2008/content/image/521278.html?page=1;object=42884

and he was using the new CA SM-18 bat... absolutely smashed it everywhere. broke a window and smashed tiles on the roof of the pavilion twice! the bat was truly a monster though was rather heavy!

SQ-Sports have them in stock. They also have the after sales contract for CA in the UK. Try emailing: support@sq-sports.co.uk
