New Bat advice
« on: September 06, 2014, 03:04:59 PM »

Hi guys just wondering if I can get some input for a new bat. I've  narrowed it down to either  L&W, Newbery and Alderd. I've  got £250 to spend but willing to spend more if I have to.

Thanks

Do you know what profile are looking in the three bats?
All 3 are quality bats - in aldred you will get an option of selecting your own cleft if that matters.

Filled out the L&W bat sizing form they recommended  their special profile. Looking  for  a  low-mid or mid middle

I've never had one, but it has been mentioned on here many times that L&W bats can gain weight during, and after shipping. If weight is critical I'd bear that in mind.

I've had a laver,, which was very good
But my Aldred bat, which Paul shaped in front of me,,is as good if not better
And quite a bit cheaper

Both highly recommended, but the Aldred pips it for me

I visited Paul and chose the cleft
He shaped it to my preference while I was there ,,
Makes me laugh when I see what gray nicks charge for same thing

I'm not saying what I paid, but in all honesty, I would have paid double

Might have to pay Paul a visit  when he reopens and pick  my own bat.

If you are based in the UK it might be nice to support the UK makers and go for an Aldred or Newbery.

The Aldred's look superbly finished, and most Newbery's are pressed really nicely which works for me.

Might also be worth contacting Blank Bats on here.

  L&W, Newbery and Alderd.

I'm not sure why people decide on brands before anything else. Why not just try and find a bat you like?

Go with Aldred or Newbery...I personally heard lot of mix reviews about L&W from teammates.

Friends of mine has a Newbery B52 players and it's  a pretty good  bat. The other two I've  only heard good things about them.
