As Jake rightly points out - these clubs would of been pushing for sponsorship because it is a live televised event. Sky are kicking grass roots cricket in the teeth. Are Sky going to refund them if sponsors do pull out, I very much doubt it.

Sky could hardly have predicted the way the Championship would pan out though, could they?  And they will know very well that they will get far more viewers for the Yorkshire game than they will for the NAtional T20, which has been disappointing to watch in the past and largely ignored.

and winning the Championship won't be for Jack Leaning, Alex Lees, Steve Patterson, JAck Brooks et al?

They'll have more chances,  they already get to perform on tv.  For a lot of these guys, it may be their only chance.

If I knew the viewing figures we could be certain of that! I think the number of people watching cricket on a work day tuesday in september isn't going to be huge for a county game or club t20.

In either instance, you would not want to bank on it.

Yorkshire have a fan base in the tens of thousands at least, Notts have a decent chunk themselves and there will be casual interest (at least in the highlights) from fans of the Championship itself and people who want to see how the likes of Lyth, Lees, Taylor and Hales handle the pressure given they are being spoken of as possible England tourists.  That is surely going to be more than they would get for a day when the vast majority of interested parties would have gone to the ground anyway!

Besides which, there is more than enough hit and giggle on the box already!

Sky should really have thought about this a little better!
Couldn't Sky have shown one match on the normal channel and then the other on the Red button?

Good point Pete. Sky are showing highlights, so they have camera's, crew, commentators there. Does it cost so much more to do it live?

Valid point that - you'd have thought they could rotate three commentators to keep costs down if needs be.

Could get it down to 1 if they hire Boycott. I'm pretty sure he could spend most of the day telling us what they are doing wrong ;-)

This would probably be the biggest day of their sporting careers for most of them.

Surely it still is, TV cameras or No TV Cameras

You sure the highlights aren't the ones with the single camera that the ECB usually do occasionally for county games. If not I don't see much of a reason why they can't do it live really if it can be fit in alongside the CC.

Will be one, or two cameras maximum, and a commentator added later.

Sky should televise a championship game in every round in my opinion, doesn't get enough coverage
