Hi guys, a question for the forum members from Aus. Out of interest, what do the guys rate higher and better out there - The Victorian Premier League or Sydney Grade? It's refreshing to see big name players still turning out for their affiliated home clubs.

I presumed that would be the case, more of the fact that it's just two different locations! It's just amazing on the comparison of seeing the overall difference between their set ups and ours in the UK. I presume that it's also down to the numbers and interest of cricket in Australia as well.

Club cricket is struggling a little, it's a little different in the comps you are looking at because it's the step before state cricket and it's quite serious. Commitment is a major issue now in most clubs and it's all about the individual not the club as a whole.

I was in oz 12 years ago and was blown away by the clubs there. Fantastic training facilities, 6 or 7 lanes plus throw down nets and all grades turning up twice a week in their training kit, it was a real eye opener. Not sure about the 2 day cricket though, from what I hear from mates still in oz the players would like to play more one day format like we do here, but those in power want the current format to remain.

Not sure how true this is, but a guy in my club reckons there are fewer grade cricketers turning to coaching than in the past. He asserted that its due to rising cost of living (and housing affordability) that grade cricketers prefer to take more lucrative work outside of the sport than to turn to coaching. I don't know how one would gather the required data to make such an assertion?
