Oi stop hijacking my thread  :)

So Jake you'd be best placed to tell me how the Ton dual thigh pad compares with the P2 Strippers.  Doesn't seem to have quite such thick straps (maybe not a bad thing) but doesn't have the little hip pad either?  How shall I put it politely, I don't think I've ever experienced FC's "slippage" issues...

Aeros are the market leaders no doubt about it. For me they are the best off the shelf protection (get Stretton Foxes if you have the money) with P2 being th best option P1 for me are unnecessary although the do have very comprehensive hip protection.

The TON's are a very good alternative, and are more affordable.

The TON's have nice thick, towelled straps but no hip protection to speak of. The Aeros have more scope to adjust the straps/velcro for a custom fit, the TONs are a bit more 'one size fits most.'

Ok, so P2 strippers it is then. Question for you Jake, would I be best off going for Medium or Large? Currently have Medium and they're a comfy fit but if I had one criticism it would be that the leading leg thigh pad could be a little longer, the ball has that annoying tendency to find that little gap between the thigh pad and top of the pad flap. So are the Large pads any longer or is it just for the more ample of girth? I'm 6'2" and 34 waist (if i breathe in...). Hint, there's a sale for you whichever answer i get  :)

Am I being blind or can I really not see them on their website?  I guess you're talking about these https://twitter.com/jnbrn50/status/497074070375366656, how much were they?  They look nice but separate pads are a bit of a faff IMHO.

I think they were £35 incl postage. The inner thigh pad isn't that much of a faff really, and if you only want the outer you can wear it on its own.

I had the exact same problem and used to use a Medium size, but have recently switched to Large.  Since making the change, the ball hasn't found its way in that little gap (yet!)

Large are a bit longer yes, and also a little more accommodating for ample girth. They aren't absolutely massive and bulky though, we are talking a couple of centimetres wider on each side of the outer thigh pad, and maybe not quite as much on the inner.

Thanks for the advice, order on its way...

I have actually switched from A large P2 to a medium and a smaller one this season. Although a small chunk of my thigh is exposed, I find the setting a lot more comfortable and the top bit doesn't goad me in the waist anymore when going forward.

Tried Strettons as well and didn't really find it that comfortable, given the hype. The towel straps on strettons are certainly better than the aero ones.

Well I got them in a large in the end - and kudos to Jake for helping sort out an aero quality glitch so efficiently when they first arrived. Not used them in anger but they seem just as comfortable as the medium shadow batting in the kitchen  :-[
