I recently purchased two new Gunn & Moore bats from the UK for my upcoming season in Australia and I have to say I happy with what arrived. The first bat is a Help for Heroes HERO bat that is a Special Edition five star that is 2.9 with 41mm edges and a good feel and pick up. It reminds me a bit of the Joe Root players edition Six6 that has a full profile and no reduced toe or shoulders. The Six6 Original is a very light 2.8 however it picks up like a bat that is 2.6 with 40mm edges and a nice traditional shape profile. I have been using a Six6 since they came out and I have to say this one is one of my favourites. I look forward to getting these in the nets and seeing how they go. I have been trying to upload a pic with this thread... Is there a trick to doing so as every single time I do it keeps saying "can not access upload path"

I picked up a Six6 a fortnight ago as well. Early days so far, but I'm planning to have it as my number 1 bat this season (with an Aldred a very close 2nd).

The spine isn't very high so it can pack a whole lot of bat into the edge. Even though GM say its a concaved profile, due to the limit of the spine height, there isn't really a lot they can take out.
The shape and profile isn't the usual that I'd go for, but I really loved the pick up.
It has a middle sweet spot position, but basically from an inch above the toe, to just before the stickers are pretty good and will only get better with use. I'm really looking forward to using mine.

Fair enough, sounds good, sounds good. Why the GM over the Aldred?

The Six6 goes pretty well so far in the nets , however I have found that the HERO has the potential to be the best GM bat I have had. It has a very wide middle but unlike the Six6 the "sweetspot" is more lower which is better for me as I like playing on the front foot. I have two Six6 bats , one is the Aussie one with natural finish and this one is the UK version with ToeTek and GMnow. They both play really well. I bat middle order and so I find even though the spine height is not huge I still get plenty of power with the wider middle of the bat. Both of mine have minimal concaving,

Why do people say they like batting on the front foot or back foot. Don't you have play each ball on its merits. I would like to cover drive every ball but I don't think the bowler will always allow me.

Yes play each ball on its merits, but you can have favourite shots.
I like to guide the ball down to third man, but I don't try it every ball I get  ;)

Wouldn't you buy a bat which suits the pitches you mainly play on and not the shots you like to play?

You buy the bat to suit you. You will always have a favourite shot or favourite set of shots, that's absolutely fine. Some people are pretty one dimensional players, nothing wrong with that. Almost everyone will adjust to the pitch over time anyways, according to Crictech, so you will generally try middle the ball in the same place, or at least learn how to adjust over the course of the innings.

Hasn't someone shown you tend to hit the ball in the same place on the bat on a slow low pitch as you do a road, you just vary your technique to suit??

What were your previous GMs like?

Crictech might be right. I live in Perth and it was my logic that get a higher middle bat because of the pace and bounce here. It was just a coincidence that I also like to pull and cut.......at the right ball.
