TON Duffle - initial thoughts
« on: September 19, 2014, 10:17:31 PM »

Evening all

Second of my reviews this evening. This time the TON duffle.
I bought this a couple of days before the Pro Direct deal so value for money may be better for some than others.

I bought this to replace my GM Original Easi Load, which had started falling apart after a seasons use. Size wise the duffle is dimensionally smaller, and has less pockets. However i feel this bag is more spacious than the wheelie I used to have.

Material wise the back of this bag is unreal, lovely padded back and straps for carrying it. The fabric the bag is made from feels high quality and is fairly thick so should wear well.

Another owner of this bag has pointed out that the divider between the main compartment and side pockets is rather thin. I do not beleive this will be an issue however. The material seems to be sturdy (although thin) and because the side pockets are the length of the bag anything stored in them is likely to fall to the bottom of the bag anyway. I plan to use these pockets for my whites, towels and various bandages and supports which are all soft anyway, so are even less likely to aggravate this almost not existent issue.

Now for the pictures. In the bag I have 2 bats, a masuri, 2 pairs of gloves, a pair of pads, a box & my strettons.
These were placed in but didn't take any manoeuvring to get things into place.
What impressed me most was how much space was left in the bag after doing this!

First impression is that I'm highly impressed with this duffle, and for £40 posted it is excellent value for Money. Anyone who picked one up for £25 has got an absolute bargain!

Great review. I have the woodworm equivalent and I think the TON is nicer.

Heaps of space. Carried to training today pads, 2 pairs of gloves, thigh pads, helmet, pair of shoes and 4 bats no worries. It is easier to carry on the back than drag a wheelie.

How do you find the Woodworm bag? A friend of mine has it, looks pretty good, but the ink came out of the canvas and dyed his pads red!

I've been using the Woodworm but recently invested in the cut price Ton via PDC. Woodworm has been fine, no colour running even when it gets damp so perhaps he was just unlucky

Haven't had that happen yet, but would not be too surprised.

It's ok for a budget buy. I just wanted a Duffle and it was cheap on eBay $A40. Swallows heaps of gear and is easy to carry, leaving one hand for the chair and another for the esky.

If it had internal pockets or a area for the helmet that would be better.

I'd go the TON if it was available here. Black is nicer and not as loud as the Woodworm. Also the Ton has a carry handle for loading it in and out of the boot, where the woody is more a strap.

Has anyone else who has this bag struggled to put bats in the bat sleeves? Since buying it in the PDC sale at the end of last season its been left in the packaging.Ive just tried to put both of my SS bats in and its taken a lot of effort to get even 1 bat in.One of the sleeves in particular seems really narrow.Ive just tried 2 other bats with smaller spines and still struggled.Or is it just a case of stretching/loosening them up?

I've got two full profiles SS bats and they don't fit in the internal bat sleeves of my SS bag  ???
I just put my bats in a bat sleeves they came in and stand them down the back of the bag with the spines against my back.
I've got an Aero P1 chest guard that stops the bat faces getting scratched by my helmet that sits in the bottom of the bag.
After several attempt, I've decided theres no point fighting to get them into the internal bat pockets, my 408 stickers might come off!

How big is the bat? I have my Ton heritage and B3 DB1 in mine. Both are snug but fit in the sleeves.

Mine both fit if I want to get them in but it's snug!
I'm more worried it'll peel the stickers off than anything else

The bat sleeves are a little snug but they fit my 2 salix bats. They are a more traditional profile though. Try putting a smaller bat in for a week or two and see if they stretch a little

This is my problem and neither bat have a ridiculoulsly high spine. Its more the width that seems to be the issue This is as far I can get them in without excessive force

Might sound strange but have you tried putting them in the other way round? I put the face of mine facing the back of the bag.

It's the same either way.I just think I've got a 'duff' bag ( no pun intended)

Sounds like there's a fundamental floor in the design of these bags!
