Batsmen I think so, but they have a few bowlers at Sussex. Yasir Arafat is also sponsored by them

There are a few more I think - couple at Sussex and Glamorgan.

It can't be good for them to be seen ad a tail-ender's bat?

Joe Gatting, couple of the younger Glamorgan players whose names escape me.

Joe Gatting went to GN before he left Sussex.

Have seen Glamorgan twice this year.

Did he now?  HAdn't noticed that, not seen HAmpshire play.  Glamorgan had a couple using them when I saw them, but as I say, couldn't tell whom (insert Welsh joke here)

Interesting point being made, however, the amount ofclub cricketers using Newbery in Sussex I would say that it doesn't really impact on sales and how they are perceived. I don't think Newbery has ever been big in sponsorship of professionals, certainly international (was Cork sponsored by them) but you would expect a few more county players to be sponsored, certainly in the Sussex set up.

think GN have been quite proactive with Sussex players oflate- oh, and the county have been quite big on bringing their players in from elsewhere to boot.

Good point, Sussex have been bringing in players from elsewhere.  Must be incredibly difficult for youngsters trying to break through.  Thats for another conversation though.

Joe Gatting rarely gets in Hampshie's first team.

To be fair, there are not many division one counties that are good at developing their own players, given the constant pressure to maintain status.  Yorkshire obviously do pretty well (though they have brough Hodd and Brooks in from outside, they've done so to cover for England players) and Durham are pretty good but the others regularly field sides with few if any genuinely home grown players.
