SF Triumph and SS 'full' LE
« on: September 28, 2014, 12:22:35 AM »

My 2000th post! What better way to reach this milestone than with a thread with pictures of shiny new willow! :)

Firstly, the SF Triumph G1:

And the SS 'full' LE:

Toe up comparison shot between the SF and SS:

Bow and profile comparison shots between the current match bat SS and the new SS:

The SF weighs 2lb 9oz, and the SS weighs just a touch more, at 2lb 9.2oz. Comparing both bats to the SS I'm currently using, they both actually feel a touch 'hard', and the difference is quite noticeable. Goes to show how playing a bat in really does pay off, although I would say from memory, the old SS was just a touch nicer sounding and feeling. Both still absolute crackers, really excellent bats.

SF: Boasts a massive edge size and spine height, around 41mm/43mm and 65mm respectively. The response is amazing, and the concaving really doesn't make much of a difference to the playability across the width of the bat, simply because the edges are massive. Given it a very limited testing, but the middle is very responsive. The finishing is pretty good, however there seems to be quite a roughly finished part of the bat next to the front sticker. Not sure if the cracks are small pressing cracks or what, but it shouldn't be of too much of a worry. In terms of width, the bat width is around 107-108mm according to the digital calipers, which is what makes the size of the bat even more impressive! Really nice pick up, light and nicely balanced.

SS: Boasts big edges and a big spine height, around 39mm/40mm and 62mm respectively. As above, the response is amazing, and the coverage seems to be extensive, like the SS that was my match bat for most of the season just past. The finishing on this is very good, not the best, but certainly a well presented product. Only thing is, it seems like oil may have a tough time to penetrate through the finishing compound (Oil seemed to just stick to the waxed surface) they use for their bats. (Seems to be similar/identical to the compound on the SF) Again, like the SF, the width is around 107-108mm according to the digital calipers. Compared to the old SS, this one seems to have a small touch more mass lower down the blade and at the toe. Echo above about the pick up, light and nicely balanced.

Really pleased with this purchase, and looking at the prices of bats this season, it seems like I could have went and just about purchased 3 for the price of a top end bat from Newbery/Salix. Amazing value for money, I hope these last long enough to see their full potential! :)

Hope you guys enjoy the pics!

Lovely looking bats. Sf is a beauty

Not sure why they always run odd coloured toe guards though?

I doubt he does. My ca came straight from the factory. So would say he has contacts all over.

The toe guard was fitted by OLS, but I hadn't requested one. The shrink wrap was actually cut around the toe area of both the SS and SF, so quite clearly he had put them on himself! Did a pretty good job, I dislike toe guards because they tend to come off mid innings, but eh, I can't complain!

You finally got them! Good stuff mate. Both bats look superb and sounds like they are cannons!!!

Cheers, yeah, cracking bats! Hopefully will get them knocked in and prepared well before use! Will hopefully come close to matching the one I got through you!

Looks good, really like the shape of the LE

Yup, one of my favourite profiles. The Puma Platinum is also the same profile, just the handles are thinner and oval!

How many bats do you have now Chad?

Don't know, and don't want to know/answer. ;) Will have to cut down though, it's beyond ridiculous how many I have now!

Both very very nice bud!

Cheers, still feel your SS looks nicer!

Can we get a profile comparisson between the old & new SS buddy??

Will fire you one over WhatsApp! :)
