Sorry to bring up an old thread, but just received this in to knock in for a mate. It's concave to hell and weighs 2lb 12.4oz, so is either a really heavy cleft by their standards, or has a reasonable moisture content. Despite it being so concave, it responds ridiculously, packs a real punch. Never actually tried a Malik before, but would like to after having tapped this up! One thing I will say is that it's quite sore to knock in due to the sharp spine and edges.
I have no idea why CA and Malik love to have the edges so sharp as they take a good while to round, and cause problems. Even cosmetically, I don't find they appeal at all, so it just seems highly impractical! I absolutely detest the sticker design, but the good thing is they were easy to remove, and hardly left any residue. (Weighed around 0.8 ounces) This should knock in to be a cracking bat, but I can't help but feel it would have suited a slightly less concave profile with thinner edges!
Oh, and it picks up well! The lad picked this out of the Malik factory, apparently in a separate room from the main one. (At least from memory) He picked it based on pick up, and he normally uses a 2.7-2.9! Hopefully it will help him score some runs, I think changing from a 2.9 to 2.13 was the first step for me to becoming a slightly better batsman. (Of course, the numerous bat purchases I've made are the main factor!)
