Best Laminates
« on: September 29, 2014, 11:24:45 AM »

Looking into buying a netbat for myself and just thought might as well try out a laminate.

Had a few questions:
1. Are all performance laminates created equal ? Any forum members better known for creating laminates than others ?
2. Why are they so expensive ? Isn't it just a thin veneer of G1 willow stuck on lower grade willow ? Am I dreaming if I want to get a performance laminate for under $300.

My performance lam from Rk is spot on and for 195 a bargain.

There expensive as you still have to butcher a g1 cleft.to attach it to a g3 one.

None of the forum sponsors have anything to say on this ? Am I looking at too low a price point ?

You've probably got to bear in mind your expecting a sponsor to read your post mate - you'd be better dropping a pm or 2 out. As Chris mentions Ryan can knock you one up to your required specs and in the past the bb guys have had a few for sale + Kieron at Bulldog had a couple for sale recently so you've a few options.

I can get laminates made, exceptional quality and performance. $300 might get you an Asian made laminate (mostly done to make a bat look bigger) but for what i would call a proper laminate, you are looking at more like $500.

I'd be able to make you one for £200, postage would depend on location.

The main difference is the subcontinent style are mainly to increase the bat edges and a "performance laminate" will have a veneer of tight grain willow with a wide grade back to reduce weight. The main cost is due to having to purchase two clefts and also the additional time to bond the two together, they are more time consuming that a traditional bat.

How's your laminate performing Chris??
