Toughest country to captain..
« on: November 11, 2009, 06:39:58 PM »

Who do you think has the toughest job currently in international cricket and why...

Have to feel for Younis, he's clearly the best option for the Pakistani team IMO..  :-\

Pakistani captains... got to put up with players taking drugs, players hitting each other with bats, passionate supporters, big expectation!

Funny how the sub continent cricket is taken so seriously by the media and the public and the boards of these countries do nothing but get involved more and more into corruption and politics.. can anyone say the team representing each one of these countries has the best XI players playing..

Have to agree with Pakistan! But looking at all the international captain roles i dont envy any of them:

England: having to deal with a lot of ego's and the huge expectations placed on england after beating the aussies

Australia: expected to win every test match, any loss is deemed a huge failure!

South Africa : POLITICS!!

India: the weight of the worlds second largest population on its shoulders

New Zealand: always regarded as 'dark horses' but in reality win nothing

West Indies: who knows whats going on there!

Bangladesh and Zimbabwe: should they even have international status? Maybe a bit negative (and i know as many countries as possible should be encouraged) but maybe should be a two tierd international comp???

I met Sachin a few years ago at the Tsunami game at Lords. Only a quick chat at the back of the pavilion, but by the time he had shook my hand he was mobbed and there was a crowd 6 people deep. It really was crazy. He just looked fed up- his eyes were kind of dead and you could see how draining it was.

I felt really sorry for him actually.

I can't believe the way Sachin has handled himself on the pitch and off the pitch in such a long career.. I don't think there will be anyone like him ever again..
