Bat cracked again
« on: October 03, 2014, 08:11:44 PM »

My bat has a pretty decent crack on the toe of the bat extending to the side. This after I had already spent a decent amount of time fixing the cracks from the previous game.

Two questions ?

Can anyone tell from the pictures if the bat might be dried out ? What else would cause a bat to crack up every game ?

Second, do I need to concerned about these cracks ? I have a game tommorow and don't have the time to properly fix them.

Short term I will tape the bottom of the bat and soldier on. Is that a bad idea ?

Hi mate

With this one I think it's just bad luck rather than the willow.
The toe of a bat is naturally a weak spot and this looks like you caught one of the very corner.

Repair wide open her up a bit so you can get glue right the way down (a syringe or straw will be handy here).
Then clamp overnight.
If you wrap tightly with tape now, with any luck it shouldn't get any worse.

Final tip, but another bat or 2, then you don't need to worry about things like this happening to your only one  ;)

I moved up from 2lb 7 to 2lb 12 this season as a sort of experiment and ended up having my most successfull season ever. I have a few 2'7s but only the one 2'12. Don't want to go with a lighter bat for a big game.

Will be getting atleast another stick or two this off season.

Thanks for all your help as always.
