I can't see it working except as one offs.

There was a very good Asia vs Rest of World game a few years ago.

I'd be more interested in a RoW team take on things like this.

The European one-day team would be interesting.

I wouldn't expect it to be full of the English players. I would suggest a few of Irish, Scots and Dutch would be in there too. Especially the Dutch.

Couldn't really see anyone getting into it that isn't English bar Ryan Ten Doeschate really myself.

Do you think really Joel?

I think that you might change the management, but very few non english players would make the cut. They'd have been poached otherwise.

Believe Ten Doeschate can qualify for England but has said directly in the past he would never dream of leaving the Netherlands? Not sure he's playing for them anymore due to Essex however?

Sorry Sam I missed your post. There is an argument for ten Doeschate. I think he said something along those lines, beginning with 'being South African...'

Maybe not quite as patriotic as I remember it to be then :D.

Anyone know how he qualifies for the Netherlands? Did he move there when young?

Back on topic however I'd have thought he'd have a very good chance of getting in a European team, perhaps as the only non-English. Just curious, what would everyones world XI currently be for ODI's?

Many South African have roots in The Netherlands which helps them play at that standard.

My point is that when you have a English coach picking an England team, he'll pick Alastair Cook.

If you have a coach who is more neutral, you will have many more questions asked around players such as Ten Doeschate, Joyce, Barresi and the likes.

If you look at the current England team as the basics, there are very few who could 'guarantee' being picked.

Joyce has a ropey ODI record for Ireland given the amount of cricket played vs associates and is 36.

Who are the likes?

Like you said, an row XI would be better.

Would have to assume an Asian XI would be majority Indian with perhaps Sangakarra, Mathews, Al Hasan and a couple of Pakistani players getting in.
