I'm very new to this bat refurbishment and I'm just messing around with a couple of my brother's bats.

So far the forum has been very helpful but I've made a few school boy errors that I thought I'd share to stop anyone else doing the same.  It would be good if othrs could share as well.

1  I glued a fairly big crack at the toe but I clamped it too hard and left a bit of mark on the face (I did put carboard between the clamp and bat, maybe I should have used wooden blocks?).  It hasn't affected the performance but it just doesn't look too good. 

The mark is a little too to sand out so I think I'll put tape or maybe string at the bottom.

Errors lead to perfection  i use  2 inch thick rubber blocks similar to what you find on the floor of children's playgrounds not to soft but hard enough to prevent clamp marks.

Have you ever put string at the bottom of the bat hold the cracks together?  Is it better than tape?

String around the bottom of the Bat is a stronger repair than fibreglass tape and  less likely to snap but to be effective it needs to be bound tight and glued.
