Should Marchant de Lange be in South Africa's ODI team?
« on: October 26, 2014, 10:12:45 PM »

Marchant de Lange is in sensational form with the white ball as present, yet keeps being over looked for the South African side.

de Lange has 73 limited overs wickets @ 21. He bowls very fast, yet Philander's been jumped the queue.

Seems bizarre a bowler ideal weapon for australian pitches(looking at the World Cup) doesn't get a sniff...

Prone to injury?

Think people have moaned about the fact his bowling technique is not one which would be conducive to a long term career.

Unfortunately I don't reckon he could get in the side because South Africa's bowling attack is so good!

He's hurt his back of couple of times but he modified his action since his last injury early in 2013.

de Lange's a little unorthodox due to being a very talented javelin thrower in his youth.

TBH aside from Steyn and Morkel. McLaren is a lock as third seamer.

Then anyone from de Lange/Parnell/Abbott/Philander could be picked.

And Tahir is a lock as the spinner. Record is quite brilliant.

I'd suggest that it's probably because he is an overrated clubbie.

De Lange hasn't put many great performances as well as Abbott and Parnell. De Lange is only known for his pace.

Both Parnell and McLaren can swing their bats and score some handy runs. Without any exceptional performance from Marchant de Lange its hard for him to get in this SA side.

AB De Villiers is the new strike bowler isn't he?
Who needs De Lange when he can pick up wickets  ;)

His ODI bowling average is 31.5 so he's not quite a world class bowler yet!
