Does anyone have any tips for protecting bat grips whilst storing them over winter? Mine always end up cracking. I know I can re grip them but it is a job and expense I would like to avoid as it isn't just then one bat

they are stored in the garage in some racking that I built for my ever expanding collection. I'm currently at 9 bats but intend to increase that with all the forum sales at the minute.

Is the garage cold? I keep mine in the house over winter so they aren't exposed to extreme changes of temperature.

perhaps I should have worded that but differently! They are fairly new grips. Whilst I don't mind changing them I don't like wasting good grips needlessly.

Long term cold is a killer for grips, especially in combination with artificial lighting. Keeping them inside full bat covers will insulate them from all but the worst of the cold a garage can offer. If this doesn't do the trick it could well be the grip itself. Cheap snake/octopus/chevron especially are prone to drying out/cracking without any assistance from cold/light etc.

I keep all my bats in the garage all year round with the blades exposed  to allow the willow to breathe with 2 inch diameter DiIY water  pipe insulation around the   grips in the winter cut to length of the handle  pushes on and off the handle easily due to having a pre cut slot.

Ive always kept my bats in a cool area of the house over winter. Away from central heatng but wrapped in a bin liner and the grips have stayed fine.
